The brief for this piece was to create animated visuals for the audio provided. We were given "Duck and Cover", a film for younger audiences in the 1950s about what to do when the atomic bomb drops. The audio sounds playful, but the topic is quite morbid. Our group wanted to tap into that irony by using the cheerful audio with a traditional infographic at the beginning, but then revealing a ruined cityscape, as though the bomb went off. The infographic skips, and the voiceover gives a new message using the original soundbite.
Andrew Blake, Nicole Colvin, and Gabe Crown created the individual infographic animations, while I created and animated the final apocalyptic scene. I composited the infographics onto the screen, and also did the editing with TV effects that I animated.
